IMPLEMENTATION OF VILLAGE INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN IMPROVING PERFORMANCE OF THE DELI SERDANG REGENCY GOVERNMENT
Abstract
The implementation of the Village Information System (SID) is a strategic step in improving the efficiency of village administration and transparency. Simalungun Regency, as a region with a significant number of villages, has begun to implement SID to improve public services and village data management. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of SID implementation in improving village government performance in Simalungun Regency. The research methods used include direct observation, interviews with village officials, and secondary data analysis of SID implementation reports. The results show that SID provides significant benefits, such as increased efficiency in managing village administration, easy access to population data, and increased transparency in managing village funds. However, there are several obstacles in the implementation of SID, such as the lack of technological infrastructure in some villages, low digital literacy of village officials, and limited technical support in system operations. Therefore, a strategy is needed to increase the capacity of village officials through digital training, improving internet network infrastructure, and more targeted policies to support village digitalization. The successful implementation of SID is highly dependent on the support of the local government, active participation of the community, and synergy between various stakeholders. With the right strategy, SID can be an effective solution in modernizing village governance, thus creating a more transparent, efficient, and accountable system in public services
